BATESVILLE,
Ark. --
The Lyon College Pipers rolled to their first ever
TranSouth Conference fast-pitch softball victories in a
4-2 and 4-0 twinbill sweep of Lambuth University
Saturday at the North Complex.
Lyon
improves to 3-5 this season and starts off with a
perfect 2-0 record in conference play. Lambuth drops to
1-3 and 0-2.
Game One
Coach Jack Peel's Pipers got 2-for-2 days from
outfielder Phenix Butler and first baseman Taylor
Morgan.
Lyon starter Tenequa Martin (2-2) pitched seven strong
innings of five-hit ball. The sophomore struck out four,
walked three and allowed two earned runs.
Game Two
Morgan (2-2) moved to the mound in game two and roared
through the Lambuth lineup, scattering six hits over
seven innings for the first complete-game shutout in
program history. The freshman pitcher got three Lambuth
players out on strikes and didn't walk a batter.
Pipers'
second baseman Abbey Canon led the way with a 3-for-3,
one-RBI performance at the plate.
