Lyon College hurler Taylor Morgan threw a three-hit gem
and handed the Freed-Hardeman Lady Lions a 2-1 loss
Friday in the nightcap of a TranSouth Conference
doubleheader split.
The Pipers
(6-15 overall, 5-5 in the TranSouth) lost game one by a
4-0 score. The double-dip split settles the Lions at
12-4 overall and 8-2 in the TranSouth.
On the mound
in game two, Morgan
handed Freed-Hardeman just its second loss in league
play in game two with a seven-inning, three-strikeout
performance.
Pipers third
baseman Kiley Parker and first baseman Natalie Fuqua
each drove in a run with RBI singles in game two.
Shortstop Abbey Canon scored both Lyon College runs.
Fuqua, Canon and Morgan had two hits apiece in the
Pipers' nine-hit outing.
Freed-Hardeman's
Tarrah Tucker won game one with a two-hit, complete-game
shutout. Tucker struck out 11, walked two and allowed
hits to Morgan and second baseman April Wright.
