LEBANON, Tenn. --
Two pitching gems helped the Lyon College Pipers notch
an 8-1 and 3-0 doubleheader sweep of the Cumberland Lady
Bulldogs Friday in TranSouth Conference action.
Lyon (12-31
overall, 10-16 in conference play) had only a combined
eight hits in the two games, but won for the third
straight time on the road. The Pipers finished the
regular-season series with Cumberland at 3-1.
Pipers'
pitcher Tenequa Martin (Taylor, Ark.) earned the
game-one win and teammate Taylor Morgan (North Little
Rock, Ark.) picked up the game-two victory.
Martin
(6-17) threw a complete-game five-hitter with six
strikeouts. Morgan (5-8) allowed only four hits and
struck out four in a complete-game shutout.
Second
baseman Abbey Canon notched four hits for the Pipers in
the doubleheader. Natalie Fuqua hit her team-leading
fourth homer of the season, had a single and drove in
three runs. Catcher Kim Overbey had two hits and knocked
in three runs.
