BATESVILLE, Ark. -- The
Lyon College Pipers recorded their first victory in
program history with a 6-5 triumph over Central Baptist
College in game one of a doubleheader Thursday at
Batesville's North Complex.
The Pipers (1-5) lost
game two, 9-3, to the Lady Mustangs.
Game One
Trailing 3-0 to CBC, Lyon scored five runs in the bottom
of the second inning to take the lead for good. Taylor
Morgan, Abbey Canon and Kiley Parker each drove in a run
during the five-run second, while Phenix Butler scored
the other run in the inning on a passed ball.
Morgan finished the game
2-for-2 with an RBI. Natalie Fuqua went 2-for-4 with a
single and a double and April Wright had a 2-for-2 day
with an RBI.
Tenequa Martin (1-2)
captured her first win as a Piper on the mound, pitching
seven innings with three strikeouts. She allowed five
runs, 10 hits and walked three.
Game Two Lyon and
CBC were knotted at 2-2 through four innings of play,
but the Lady Mustangs outscored the Pipers 7-1 the rest
of the way.
Morgan was 2-for-2 in
game two with an RBI. Mikka Jaggers went 2-for-3 with a
triple and teammate Kim Overbey drove in a run.
