Eleven members of the Lyon faculty have
been selected as Arkansas Professor of the Year in the past
sixteen years. Over 90% of the members of
the Lyon faculty hold the highest degree in their field.
Members of the Lyon faculty are devoted
teacher-scholars. Each faculty member brings to the
classroom a commitment to providing a liberal arts
education of superior quality in a personalized setting.
In this spirit, each faculty member not only provides
his/her students with a thorough understanding of the
theory and practice of a specific discipline, but also
of the interconnections between that discipline and the
other fields of study offered by the College. The result
is an educational experience of exceptional breadth
(interdisciplinary) and depth (major field of study).
To attain depth themselves, Lyon faculty regularly
publish articles and books in their fields.
Faculty members are committed to providing Lyon students
with significant scholarly and internship experiences.
Thus members of the faculty seek to involve students in
their research and creative activities and encourage
presentation of their scholarship at professional
conferences. Lyon faculty members additionally
understand the importance of quality academic advising,
including advising students on prospective graduate
programs and career opportunities. Faculty members also
appreciate the learning that takes place outside the
classroom and seek to further that learning by advising
an array of student organizations. Members of the Lyon
faculty are no less known for their community service. |
