You can take advantage of the Lyon Experience

Lyon College recently announced a new initiative, called the Lyon Experience. The Lyon Experience builds upon strong major programs of study and pre-professional studies – all grounded in a proven liberal arts foundation – and offers you experiences for a lifetime:

Internships are valuable to college students

Summer months are supposed to hold promises of late night beach bonfires, exotic vacations, and the never-empty car gas tank. Or so we would like to hope. Instead, we know that in the weeks leading up to the end of the spring semester, it’s a scramble to land an internship related to our academic field. We know we must replace flip-flops with chunky black heels, and sunscreen with the “in-the-office cardigan.” The sacrifice of the summer months is a crucial part of education if you want to put yourself ahead of the competition. Lyon students hold an 'Iron Chef' competition

Ready! Set! Bake! That is exactly what six Lyon students did for the "Iron Chef" competition held by the Student Activities Council (SAC) recently. The Iron Chef competition, created by SAC member Paul Cootes, was a first-time event that will now be held annually.

The six students divided into a women’s team, which included Diedra Brauburger, Patricia Brown and Serena Cleveland, and a men’s team, which included Patrick McReynolds, Cory Emerson and Eric Morgan. It was a classic “girls versus guys” competition! However, this competition had a little extra surprise; each team was required to use three ingredients: egg, apple and chocolate. More

Lyon delegates win honors at Alpha Chi meeting

Lyon College delegates won multiple distinctions at a recent regional convention of the Alpha Chi National College Scholarship Honor Society.

Four student delegates and faculty adviser Han Ong attended the convention for students from the honor society’s chapters in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas.

The delegates learned at the convention that the Lyon College Arkansas Iota chapter had been named one of the society’s 2007 Star Chapters, a designation won by only about 10 percent of the society’s chapters nationwide. The chapter has earned the designation every year for the past 10 years. More
