3 p.m.             Alumni Council Meeting – The Lyon Building, Room 100  

7 p.m.           "Celebrate Me Home" Gathering at Josie's at the Lock House.

Start Homecoming Weekend off with a special party for alumni, students, faculty and staff at Josie's, Batesville's newest 'in' spot. The eight acts from Lyon’s Got Talent will take the stage and wow you with their talents.

 

Saturday – October 20

 

8 a.m. -           Registration
10 a.m            Pick up your tickets and information for the weekend in the Rotunda of the Lyon Building. After 10
                        a.m., you can obtain tickets and information at the Welcome Tent in Couch Garden until 1 p.m

8 a.m. -           Continental Breakfast at Edwards Commons. 
10 a.m.           Meet up with your classmates and share stories over coffee and Danish. 
 

8 a.m.             Fun Run!

                      The Fun Run starts at Becknell Gymnasium and tours the campus. The top 10 finishers get a
                      free Lyon t-shirt!  Registration will be at 7:30 a.m. at Becknell. Please contact the Athletic Office
                      at 870-793-1764, or log on to the Homecoming registration page to sign up in advance for the run.

 

8:15 a.m.       Kids Run!

                       Bring out the kids and let them have some fun in their own run at Becknell Gymnasium. The top 10
                       kids finishing get a Lyon t-shirt!  Please contact the Athletic Office at 870-793-1764, or log on to the
                       Homecoming registration page to sign up in advance for the run.

 

8:30 a.m.       Welcome for Parents and Families

                      Parents and families gather in Nucor Auditorium of the Lyon Building for welcoming remarks from
                      college administrators and staff before leaving to talk with faculty members about their students.

 

8:45 a.m.       Career Development Open House

10:30 a.m.     Drop by to meet staff and to learn about the Career Center which is located on the first floor of the
                        Lyon Building. More information is available from Vicki Webb, Director of Career Development, at

9 a.m.            Alumni Baseball Scrimmage! Call Coach Kelley (870.698-4337 or e-mail kkelley@lyon.edu)

11:00 a.m.     Founders' Day Convocation

                      Commemorate the history and traditions of Lyon College as we gather in Couch Garden to recognize
                      and congratulate the recipients of this year's awards. Those receiving awards are Dr. David Churchill
                      '81 (Distinguished Alumnus);
Dr. Brian S. Bobb '97 and Dr. Heather Hodson Bobb '97 (the
                       Patterson Decade Award Winners); Mrs. Lois Ferguson (Honorary Alumna)
; and Drs. Charles
                       and Anne Allen (Friends of Education). Governor Mike Beebe
gives the keynote address in
                       celebration of the College’s 135th birthday.

 

12:00 p.m.     Couch Garden Picnic and Class Reunions

                      Following the Founder's Day convocation, the picnic lunch awaits you in Couch Garden. Stay awhile
                      and enjoy some epicurean delights with friends, family, and classmates. In case of inclement weather,
                      the picnic will be held in Edwards Commons.

 

                      Classes celebrating their 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th and 50th reunions gather at special tables
                      reserved for them under the tent. 


12:30 p.m.     Pipers Volleyball v. Martin Methodist at Becknell Gymnasium

Cheer on the Pipers as they take to the court in Becknell Gymnasium for an exciting match.

 

12:30 p.m.     Pipers Soccer on Huser Field

                              The Pipers host Lambuth College for a great game of women's soccer.

 

2:00 p.m.       Alumni Reunion Choir Practice Led by Dr. Dorothy Landis Gray - Brown Chapel

                                Turn back the hands of time and join former Choir members as you participate in an alumni
                                reunion choir performance led by none other than former Choir Director, Dr. Dorothy Landis
                                Gray. The Choir will sing during the traditional Kirkin' service on Sunday morning at Brown

2:30ish          Homecoming Court Coronation at Huser Track and Field

After the Piper soccer game, enjoy the Homecoming Court coronation ceremonies. The Lyon College Pipe Band plays as the Court marches onto the field and the 2007 Homecoming royalty are crowned.

 

2:40               Scots Soccer at Huser Field

Show your Lyon pride and get a kick out of watching the Scots v. Lambuth soccer.

 

4 p.m. -         Greek Welcome Back!

                                         Be welcomed back to your fraternity/sorority as the present Greek residents open up their
                                         'houses' to meet and greet their brothers and sisters.

4 p.m. -         Class of 1947 Reunion at The Flanders Reading Room, The Lyon Building

 

5 p.m. -         Reception at Bradley Manor – The President's Residence

6 p.m.            President and Mrs. Roettger invite you to mingle with the Athletic Hall of Fame recipients and other
                       friends at a special reception at Bradley Manor.

 

6 p.m.           Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner at Edwards Commons

                     This year's inductees are Brandi Love Higginbotham '95, Martin D. Jacobs '75, and Tammy
                     Peten '92.
All were standout basketball players at Lyon, and Ms. Peten also excelled as a track and
                     field athlete. The late Dr. C. Fitzhugh Spragins will be honored with a posthumous Service
                     Award
for his contributions to Lyon athletics.

 

8 p.m.            Homecoming Dance on the Lyon Building’s Flanders Patio

                      An evening of fun and dance awaits you as we celebrate our friendships and memories.
                      A DJ spins music spanning the decades and takes requests for that special song that sends
                      you back in time. (You can request 'your' songs on the attached registration form).

 

Sunday – October 21

 

10:30 a.m.    The Kirkin' of the Tartans Worship Service at Brown Chapel.

                      Lyon College joins with First Presbyterian Church of Batesville for this traditional Scottish
                      worship service. A special performance by the Alumni Reunion Choir, led by Dr. Dorothy
                      Landis Gray, highlights the service.

 

Noon             "Club 50" Luncheon at Edwards Commons

Alumni celebrating their golden anniversary and beyond with the College gather to renew friendships and share memories with those who helped shape them.  (By Invitation Only)

 

1:00 p.m.       Alpha Xi Delta Charity Golf Tournament

The Alpha Xi's host a 4-person scramble with a shotgun start.  The first 40 teams registered and paid by Oct. 17 will play.  Afternoon snacks, carts, and practice balls are provided and awards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be given.

 

The entry fee is $300 per team and proceeds benefit the Independence County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), various nonprofits to aid children under Alpha Xi Delta's "Choose Children" philanthropy, and the Lyon College Annual Scholarship Fund.
