Kelley Arnold of Little Rock elected Kay Kelley Arnold of Little Rock has been elected to the Lyon College Board of Trustees. Arnold has a longtime background in Arkansas’ energy industry, working for the Entergy Corp. and its predecessor, Arkansas Power & Light Co. Lyon College hosting juried student art exhibition in Kresge Gallery this month The best artwork from Lyon College students will be on display this month when the Kresge Gallery hosts the 5th Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition. The exhibition will be on display Jan. 8-25, with an opening reception and award presentation set for 6 p.m. Jan. 15 at the gallery. Lyon College to host Burns Night Jan. 26 The Lyon College Scottish Heritage Program will host an old campus tradition this month to pay homage to one of Scotland's most beloved sons. The college’s annual Burns Night is set for Jan. 26 in Bevens Music Room. Cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. The Lyon College Pipe Band will play at 8 p.m. and country dancing begins at 9 p.m. Afro-Peruvian percussionist and dancer to present program at Lyon on Jan. 22 As part of Diversity Week 2008, Marcos Napa, a native of Lima, Peru, will bring a program of Afro-Peruvian music and dance to Lyon College on Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Holloway Theatre. Napa, a percussionist and dancer, is artistic director of Pachamama Peruvian Arts, organized by the Center for Traditional Music and Dance of New York. He is also an instructor of Afro-Peruvian dances. He was a dancer and percussionist with the famed Ballet Peru Negro for many years.

College to host Preview Day Jan. 26 Lyon College will host its third Preview Day for high school seniors and juniors and their families on Saturday, Jan. 26, on campus. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. at the Lyon Building on the north side of campus. Tebbetts selected as reader for journal Dr. Terrell Tebbetts, Lyon College Martha Heasley Cox Chair in American Literature, has been selected to review submissions to the prestigious Faulkner Journal, a peer-reviewed forum for the scholarly study of William Faulkner’s life and works published by the University of Central Florida. Alum Jim Harkins dies in North Carolina J ames "Jim" Thomas Harkins, a 1975 graduate of Lyon College, died Dec. 9, 2007, at Kannapolis, N.C., of a heart attack. He was 54. |
