Major: Undeclared

Luke Diver, 19, was born in West Plains, Mo., and spent the first year of his life on a yogi retreat with his parents.

"My dad was really influenced by agriculture," said Diver, "So he and my mom traveled with yogi's from India on this retreat."

After the retreat, Diver and his parents moved around Arkansas for about four years until they ended up in Fayetteville. There, Diver went to school from about preschool until third-grade, when his parents divorced and he and his mom moved to Eureka Springs, Ark. Diver said he has lived there ever since.

After graduating from high school, Diver decided to take a year off before going to college. When asked why he came to Lyon, Diver said he was really influenced by Regional Director of Enrollment Services Dan Rutledge, who recruited him to come to Lyon.

Diver said, "I could have gone to Hendrix, it was one of my top choices, but I felt that the Lyon College application was the only one I could bring myself to fill out."

Diver is contemplating majoring in English with either a creative writing or journalism background. If he doesn't choose to major in English, Diver said he might major in math or history with a strong background in anthropology and archeology.

After graduating, Diver said he wants to travel the world. "I don't have any specific place in mind. I just kind of want to throw a dart at a map and go there. As long as I have enough money to eat and find a place to stay, I'll be perfectly happy. I really want to travel to somewhere where no one has stood in 600 years and just breathe the air," Diver said.

Diver joined the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity this semester.
