How you can take advantage of the Lyon Experience

Lyon College recently announced a new initiative, called the Lyon Experience. The Lyon Experience builds upon strong major programs of study and pre-professional studies – all grounded in a proven liberal arts foundation – and offers you experiences for a lifetime:

  • International experience. Lyon's Nichols International Studies program offers all students opportunities to study abroad while we cover the cost of air travel and lodging. Recent two-week study groups have gone to Belize, France, Germany, Japan, and Peru's Machu Pichu. Check our website (http://www.lyon.edu/webdata/groups/nichols/nicholstcrs.asp) for more information on the Nichols program.

  • Technology. Now that our 136-acre campus is completely wireless, we will take the next step and provide each new entering student with a laptop computer. This ensures that everyone has an Internet connection and access to a standard suite of learning tools (and just maybe some room for music): a level playing field and the tools for success! See our website for more information (http://www.lyon.edu/LyonExperience.asp)

  • Experiential transcript. It's true: on a 24 x 7 residential campus like Lyon's, lots of learning goes on outside the classroom. Knowing this, we established intentional programs to provide daily lessons in leadership, integrity, self-governance and responsibility. Now, we have designed an experiential transcript, the Lyon Legacy that will document your out-of-class learning experiences.

Act now to reserve your spot in our entering fall 2008 class. We look forward to welcoming you to the Lyon Experience next August at Red Carpet Days when you will receive your laptop and become a member of our teaching and learning community.
