Dr. Bordeau was recently elected the Alpha Chi Teacher of the Year at
Lyon College. Her selection was announced at the Honors Day Convocation
April 15. In November 2006, Dr. Bordeau was named the Arkansas Professor
of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching
and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She
became Lyon’s 13th Arkansas Professor of the Year. Dr. Bordeau joined
the Lyon faculty in 1995. Originally from Marquette, Mich., she is a
member of the Modern Language Association’s Delegate Assembly. She
currently serves on the task force on general education and on the
Promotion and Tenure Committee. She is coordinator of the Lyon-Poitiers
Exchange Program and has led several Nichols International Studies trips
to France. In the community, she has been an advocate for recycling and
a member of the Independence County Recycling Education Committee and a
sponsor of the Lyon College Recyclers. She also has been an assistant
faculty sponsor for the Lyon College chapter of the Alpha Chi National
Honor Society. Arthur Rimbaud’s Illuminations is her favorite
book and her favorite artist is Pierre Bonnard. She also enjoys sailing
and traveling.
