Lyon welcomes new faculty members
Three new faculty members will join Lyon College when its fall semester begins in August. Dr. Kathy Pillow-Price will be Lyon’s new associate professor of education and director of teacher education; Dr. Scott Lien will be the assistant professor of history and Donald William Overbeay will be the assistant professor of art. More Moving Up Arkansas wraps up at Lyon College More than 40 migrant students finished up their work toward earning credits that will be transferred to their high schools last week at Lyon College. The Moving Up Arkansas Migrant Education Program advocates for migrant families, identifies and recruits all eligible students, and provides supplemental education programs, health and/or personal services to meet the unique needs of this growing population. Children of families who earn their living in agriculture-related jobs such as farm workers or those employed by companies such as Tyson or Con-Agra, are eligible to participate in the program. Students arrived at Lyon on June 1 and completed their time in the program on June 21. Lyon Night at Dickey-Stephens Field set Lyon Night at Dickey-Stephens Field in North Little Rock is scheduled for July 11. Gates open at 6:15 p.m. for an all-American buffet picnic and game time is 7:10 p.m. The Arkansas Travelers will face the Tulsa Drillers. The picnic includes a choice of a backyard burger or hot dog served with all the trimmings. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Special bus transportation will be offered to Batesville area residents. Seating is limited, and on a first-come, first serve basis.
