President Warren to speak
Ann Sullivan will readily admit she has no idea what she wants to do in life. The Lyon College junior once thought teaching was her calling, but after discovering she wasn't too keen on children, Sullivan marked the profession off her list. But a recently reinvigorated program at Lyon has the Jonesboro native closer to zeroing in on a career. Two new trustees elected to Lyon board David Jones has been elected an Out-of-State Alumni Jones graduated from Lyon College in 1999. After graduating from Lyon, Jones attended the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. He is now an attorney in Indianapolis, Ind. He is married to Leticia (Wright) Jones '01, and they have three children. Haney of Arkadelphia is set to graduate from Lyon in May. He is a member of the Lyon College men’s soccer team and cross country team.
Haney recently was awarded Lyon’s Above and Beyond Award and the Sigma Tau Delta Senior Writing Award at the college’s honors convo-cation.
Seniors prepare for next chapter in life By Rita Brown Graduation begins to loom over students’ heads almost immediately after they receive their acceptance letters. Classes need to be picked, majors declared, and a few roommates paired in between. It’s an easy whirlwind to become caught up in, and an even easier one to take for granted. College provides stability for students while acting as a safe haven from the big world it tries to prepare them for. No one knows this better than the current seniors who soon have to break free from its security and try to successfully navigate the big world before them. The Lyon Recyclers met at the library on April 30 for a recycling party. They and others who joined the fray ripped out pages from dozens of books, mostly indexes and old law codes that the library now has online. The pages have to be free of the binding to be recyclable. Two carloads of paper were hauled off by maintenance to be recycled. Everyone had a good time and took out some finals frustration by ripping up books. Dr. Cathy Bordeau is the leader of these recyclers. Co-workers, friends attend Devall reception Deanna Devall is leaving her position as administrative assistant at the Mabee Simpson Library. Devall has taken a job at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. |
