Carole Harris memorial service scheduled for today
Dr. Walter Roettger, president of Lyon, said: "For more than six years, Carole and Gary were the faces and hearts of Lyon to countless freshmen and their families while Gary served as Resident Faculty Mentor of Spragins House. She was a warm and gracious hostess and exceptional chef. Together, she and Gary tended to the hungers of mind, body and soul of our entering students." Sixty-eight Lyon students named to Dean’s List Sixty-eight students have been named to the spring 2008 Lyon College Dean’s List. To be on the Dean's List, a student must maintain a 3.75 grade point average or higher while taking a minimum of 12 hours in a semester. Martha Fast named 2008 Kirk Woman of Faith With tears in her eyes, Martha Fast thanked Presbyterian Women and praised God as she humbly accepted the 2008 Woman of Faith Award presented on May 12 at Presbyterian Kirk in the Pines. “I have had such an incredible life,” she said. “I am amazed at what our great God can do. My life has been such a wonderful journey.” More Lyon alums win APME awards Lyon College alums John Trobaugh and J. Ross Jones took home three honors in the Associated Press Managing Editors Awards presented in Heber Springs. Trobaugh earned second place in the spot news story category with his piece, “Man Pulls Woman From Burning Car.” Trobaugh also won second place in education reporting for his story “Stage In Their Lives.” Jones received third place in the graphics category for his artwork “Tending to Tami.” Lyon College Media Relations/Web Content Manager Chandra Huston won two first place awards in education and business reporting for her work at the Batesville Daily Guard and a third place award in the special project/community service category for a Baxter Bulletin series featuring future Lyon Scots basketball player Jacob Worlow of Mountain Home. Worlow is slated to attend Lyon in the fall. |
