98 Lyon seniors receive diplomas For the past four years, Lyon College President Walter B. Roettger has watched the college's class of 2008 closely. He has watched the students grow spiritually, intellectually and physically. He has watched them transform from awkward teenagers to responsible young adults. And he has watched them change for the better as they prepare for the future. But Saturday, his watching stopped. With a firm handshake and warm smile, Roettger said goodbye to the class of 2008 by presenting 98 students their bachelor's degrees. More Six earn awards for academic achievements Six Lyon College students earned awards for their academic work at Saturday’s 136th commencement. More Lindblom awarded Williamson Prize Dr. Tim Lindblom, associate professor of biology, has been awarded the 2008-09 Lamar Williamson Prize for Excellence in Teaching. The Williamson Prize is given annually by Lyon College to the faculty member deemed to be the most outstanding in four categories: professional competence, scholarly ability, exemplary humane and Christian values, and contributions to the community. More Project Playground donates $7000 to city A community project spearheaded by Lyon College students reached a milestone Friday when a check for $7,000 was presented to Batesville Mayor Rick Elumbaugh on behalf of Project Playground. next fall Lyon College has announced a new physical education
minor is available for students enrolling next fall. According to Dr. John Peek, Lyon's vice president for
academic services, Tracy Stewart-Lange has been named the physical
education program's director and will coordinate the incorporation of
the new minor into the College's academic program.
