Gov. Beebe
to be keynote speaker Gov. Mike Beebe will take the podium to help commemorate the history and traditions of Lyon College during its 135th Founders' Day Convocation on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 11 a.m. in Couch Garden.
Faculty and staff discount for Homecoming Homecoming '07 kicks off on Friday evening, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. with a celebration at Josie's at the Lockhouse! Many alumni and students have already signed up and it promises to be a terrific evening. The very talented student competitors from "Lyon Has Talent" will entertain us for two sets. The celebration will feature abundant Josie's food and a cash bar. Tickets are priced at $17 per person if purchased at the door. However, we have a special discount for faculty and staff. Three former athletes to be inducted into Hall; Dr. Spragins also to be honored As part of Homecoming ’07, slated to run Oct. 19 – 21, Lyon College will induct three former standout student athletes into its Athletic Hall of Fame, and will also honor the late Dr. C. Fitzhugh Spragins '57 with its Hall of Fame Service Award,. The inductions will happen during a banquet at Edwards Commons at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20. A reception at Bradley Manor at 5 p.m. will precede the award ceremony.
Lyon Health Office to give flu shots To help keep the campus community from being haunted by the spectre of the flu this Halloween, the Lyon College Health Office will provide vaccine shots on Oct. 31 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. The shots will be available to all students, faculty and staff in the Morrow Building Health and Wellness Office at a cost of $12.25 each.
Professor’s sabbatical
offered Dr. Scott Roulier’s recent sabbatical to New Zealand gave him the chance to study urban design and sustainability issues in a setting he had long wanted to visit, and to share the “once in a lifetime opportunity” with his family. Roulier will be installed as the John D. Trimble Associate Professor of Political Philosophy at the Founders' Day convocation Oct. 20.
