Lyon College Recyclers sponsor contest A new group on campus, the Lyon College Recyclers, sponsored a recycling contest in celebration of America Recycles Day on November 15. Students and Greek organizations collected as much recyclable material as possible. The judging occurred on Friday, Nov. 16. John Sharp won the top prize in the individual competition, a Wal-Mart gift certificate, for collecting 18.5 pounds of recyclables. Jason Woods came in second for bringing in 5.25 pounds of recyclables and won a gift certificate provided by the Lyon Bookstore. Phi Mu won the prize in the group competition, a letter of recommendation for the President's Cup, for collecting over 90 pounds of recyclable materials. Participants in the contest brought in a total of over 280 pounds of recyclables. Anyone who wishes to promote recycling on campus is welcome to join the Lyon College Recyclers, who meet on Fridays at noon in EDH3. Photo by Jessica Cameron |
