Two new trustees elected to Lyon College board

David Jones has been elected an Out-of-State Alumni Trustee, while Daniel Haney has been elected as the Young Alumni Trustee to the Lyon College Board of Trustees.

Jones graduated from Lyon College in 1999. While at the college, he was a charter member of the Pre-Law Club, charter member of Model U.N., vice president of the Black Student Association, representative of the Student Government Association, senior class president and member of Sigma Tau Delta. He also participated in the Nichols International Studies program, taking a trip to England.

After graduating from Lyon, Jones attended the UALR William H. Bowen School of Law. He is now an attorney in Indianapolis, Ind. He is married to Leticia (Wright) Jones '01, and they have three children.

Jones is also involved in many community endeavors including Habitat for Humanity, Arkansas Bar Association, Arkansas and Indiana Homeowners Association and Students Taking Efforts to Promote Success (STEPS).

Haney of Arkadelphia is set to graduate from Lyon in May with a degree in political science and English. He is a member of the Lyon College men’s soccer team and cross country team.

Haney also has been involved in the Student Government Association, Mortar Board, Greek life, Honor Council and various student activities during his time at Lyon.

Haney recently was awarded Lyon’s Above and Beyond Award and the Sigma Tau Delta Senior Writing Award at the college’s honors convocation.

After graduation, Haney said he plans to move to Little Rock and go to law school or attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock for sign language interpretation.
