New faculty members join Lyon College

Three new faculty members will join Lyon College when its fall semester begins in August.

Dr. Kathy Pillow-Price will be Lyon’s new associate professor of education and director of teacher education; Dr. Scott Lien will be the assistant professor of history and Donald William Overbeay will be the assistant professor of art.

Price comes to Lyon from Arkansas State University at Beebe where she has been an associate professor of education for the past 11 years. She also is the owner of the part time consulting business.

Price has been recognized in numerous publications and has been instrumental in working with the Arkansas Legislature.

Price received her bachelor’s degree in elementary and early childhood education from Arkansas State University as well as her master’s degree and doctorate.

Lien comes to Lyon from Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., where was the assistant professor of history and geography. Lien has also had positions at the University of Chicago and DePaul University.

Lien has made many conference presentations, including a presentation this month at the Institute Conference of the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture. He also has had his research work published numerous times.

Lien received his bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Minnesota. He earned a master’s degree in history and a doctorate in history from the University of Chicago.

Overbeay comes to Lyon from Georgia Southern University where he was the assistant professor of fine arts, a position he held for two years. He was previously the archival associate at the Henderson Library at Georgia Southern University. He also was the assistant professor of fine arts at Andrew College from 1999-2004.

Overbeay received his bachelor of fine arts from Ohio State University and his master of fine arts from the University of Alabama.

Overbeay, too, has been published, reviewed and interviewed for several publications throughout his career.
