David Heringer named dean of enrollment services at Lyon
Heringer of Bismark, N.D., begins the position Aug. 1. As dean, he will be responsible for all facets of the College’s admission and financial aid programs. His duties will include leading and managing the College’s freshman and recruiting activities, directing its financial aid programs, representing the College to key external constituencies and providing staff support to the College’s Enrollment Services Committee. “We are delighted to have Dean Herringer as a member of our Lyon leadership team,” said Lyon President Walter Roettger. “Dave is a proven professional in enrollment services. He’ll bring a wealth of talent and savvy and lots of energy to our recruiting and financial aid initiatives.” Heringer’s career in college admissions spans over 22 years. He was most recently the vice president for enrollment services at the University of Mary in North Dakota where he directed the offices of admission, financial assistance and registrar since 2001. He also planned, managed and implemented several recruitment programs to meet the university’s enrollment needs. Previously, Heringer was the vice president for enrollment management and student development at Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo., and director of admission and financial assistance at Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn. “I am very excited to be coming to Lyon College,” Heringer said. “I look forward to getting to know all the faculty, staff, administrators and students. Lyon is a well-kept secret. Building on its strengths (excellent faculty, mission, academic reputation) I look forward to creating an 'institutional' team effort to promote Lyon and be creative in meeting the needs and wants of today’s students to ultimately see enrollment growth. I consider it a privilege to serve as the dean of enrollment services for Arkansas’ first and finest independent college. We will work hard to bring in the best and brightest from Arkansas and the surrounding region.” Heringer earned his masters degree in management from the University of Mary and a bachelor of science degree in business administration and sociology/anthropology at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont. He and his spouse, Chris, have two children, Emma and Evan. |
