Lyon College Concert Chorale announces upcoming tour itinerary The Lyon College Concert Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Joel Plaag and Ceil Smith, has announced its tour stops for the 2007-2008 school year. This year's concerts will feature J.S. Bach's Magnificat, Moses Hogan's My Soul's Been Anchored By the Lord, Russell Robinson's arrangement of Shenandoah, and other sacred and secular selections. On Sunday, Nov. 18, at 5 p.m., the Concert Chorale will present its fall concert in North Little Rock at Park Hill Presbyterian Church, 3520 JFK Blvd. The spring tour will have three stops; first is on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado, Kan., 400 W. Central. On Friday, March 28, the choir will sing at Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, Ark., also at 7 p.m., 1880 Forrest Hills Blvd. Saturday, March 29, at 7:30, the choir will be at Dardenne Prairie Presbyterian Church, at 7400 Highway N, located just outside of St. Louis, Mo. The concerts are free and open to the public. High school students are particularly encouraged to attend. The concert chorale is also available to sing for local high school choirs along the tour route. To arrange for the concert chorale to come to your high school, contact Dr. Plaag at (870) 307-7259. With a long history of touring, the Lyon College choir program always seeks to extend the range of friends of the college, starting from the days of the "Lassies" traveling with the USO, to featured performances at the National Cathedral, the Grand Canyon, and San Francisco's Grace Cathedral. The concert chorale sings at Lyon College graduations and convocations, as well as in venues ranging from city halls to state capitols and churches. Because of its all-encompassing mission, the choir specializes in providing a wide variety of repertoire, from great classics to vocal jazz. |
