Lyon College is once again honored with NAIA's The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics has selected the Lyon College Athletic Department as one of its Champions of Character institutions for its work during the 2006-07 school year. The Champions of Character Institutional Award is given annually to member institutions that represent the true spirit of competition through the NAIA's five tenets: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship. "This is an honor that we are very proud of in our athletic program," said Lyon College Athletic Director Kirk Kelley. "It exemplifies everything our athletic program and Lyon College stand for." This is the sixth consecutive season Lyon has been honored with a Champions of Character Institutional Award. The college has been selected as a Champions of Character institution every year since the award program began in 2000-01. Lyon's athletic program was among 140 of the NAIA's 290 member institutions to receive this prestigious award. |
