Bookstore reorganizes, adds to offerings By Lindsey Fry The Lyon College Bookstore is expanding. The store has changed and added areas that are most appealing to students. One of the big changes is a new bookroom. The bookstore recently relocated the area where students buy books for classes to the back room of the store. Bookstore Manager Sandy Michel said the move has transformed a once stressful process of buying books to being a quick and easier one. "I love how they reorganized the book area," said junior Katie Estes. "It is so much easier to find what I'm looking for." Michel also decided to expand the art department in addition to the bookroom. Now there are more art supplies and school supplies for those last-minute projects. Most people don't think of a bookstore as being a one-stop-shopping experience, but Michel said that is what she has tried to do with the Lyon store. The bookstore offers a variety of food and snacks, drinks, candy and even salsa. There are also toiletries such as shampoo and toothpaste. Michel said she is open to any other suggestions of more food or any other items she could keep on hand for students to buy. With the extra space left from the reorganization of the bookstore, Michel has added couches, chairs, and tables for students to come in and study. Michel said the bookstore recently received a new shipment of hoodies, pants, jackets, T-shirts and other items will be arriving soon. She said more buyable gifts have been added to the shelves including the popular giant microbes, stuffed animals that are one million times the actual size of microbes. The bookstore is open 8-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. |
