Peel leaves Lyon College post

Jack Peel has announced his resignation, effective immediately, from his post as head softball coach at Lyon College to accept the same position at Lambuth University.

Peel laid the groundwork for Lyon’s fast-pitch softball program and recorded a record of 15-36 in his first year as head coach in 2008. Peel’s team finished fifth in the 10-team TranSouth Conference with a 13-19 mark. The University of Memphis graduate had served as the Lyon College Scots' baseball hitting coach prior to his appointment as the head softball coach.

"Jack is one of my best friends and I absolutely hate seeing him leave Lyon College," said Lyon College Athletic Director and Head Baseball coach Kirk Kelley, "He got in here and worked as hard as he could and he helped us put our softball program on a firm foundation for the future."

A search has begun in earnest to find Peel's replacement. According to John Peek, Vice President for Academic Services and the Dean of the Faculty, the College is expected to find a successor by Aug. 1.
