I live in: Batesville, AR

Birth Place: Mountain View, AR

How long have you been at Lyon?: It will be 35 years in September of this year.

Best part of my job: That it changes often. There are always new faces and new challenges. It's fun to watch the students "grow up" and then come back and visit as alums. I really do enjoy the people, they are what make it fun. I have worked in several different offices and buildings during my career here. I really like the basements best. I've worked in two!

My family includes: My husband Terry, my son Charles, my daughter and son-in-law Heather and Dustin Robbins, and my two grandchildren Nathan and Madison.

The one thing I think Arkansans should be more passionate about is: Their heritage, growing up in Mountain View, it was always amazing to see how many people were in awe of the things we took for granted. Arkansas is a beautiful state with tons of culture.

A few of my all-time favorite songs are: Anything from the 1960s and early 70s The Beatles, Three Dog Night, The Eagles, etc. - remember I'm old!

The best advice I've ever been given is: My grandmother used to tell me "You are known by the company you keep." Truer words were never spoken.

My favorite foods are: Obviously almost everything, have you seen me?

A food I'll never eat is: Liver

My favorite holiday is: Christmas, but it can be the most frustrating one trying to juggle family gatherings!

Hobbies: Reading and doing things with and for my kids and grandkids.

Something I would like to achieve this year that I didn't last year is: The obvious answers are lose weight and save money, isn't that everyone's goal.

My community involvement: Member of First United Methodist Church and the Batesville Athletic Booster Club.

The hardest thing I've ever done was: Helping take care of my mom while she was dying. It's amazing what you can do when you have to.

The person who has had the greatest influence on my life is: My Grandmother Dearien (she was my babysitter until I started school and then during school vacations) and my parents.

My favorite childhood memory is: Swimming in Sylamore Creek on our farm, life sure was uncomplicated back then!

My favorite season is: Summer

My favorite decade of my life was: The '70s

My all-time favorite movie is: "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby, it always played on Christmas Eve when I was younger!

The first car I ever owned was: 1973 Dodge Charger, it had a 400 engine and probably got about 10 miles per gallon. Of course gas was about 30 cents per gallon. You could put in a dollar's worth of gas and go all weekend.

The hardest thing about being an adult is: Needing to have the answers to life's questions. I hate that now I'm supposed to know the things I would still like to be able to ask my parents.

The most memorable news event of my life is: Well, I'm so old there have been several, men walking on the moon, JFK's death, tearing down the Berlin wall, and 9/11 just to name a few.

The greatest technological advancement during my lifetime was: The computer ...  probably the most frustrating also.

My favorite outdoor activity is: Swimming and boating

As a child, my dream career was: To be rich enough to have a maid like "Hazel" (it was a television show when I was young). Instead, I am Hazel!

If I could have lunch with any person, dead or alive, it would be: My parents, there are so many questions I didn't get answered. My Dad died when I was a junior in high school – I didn't even know the questions then!

The best gift I ever received was: My family

If I could give one piece of advice to the younger generation, it would be: Enjoy life while you are young and take advantage of every opportunity offered you. You, too, will be old like me one day, sooner than you think.

Five years from now, I: Will be 57, almost 58, and hopefully the parent of a Lyon College graduate, Charles is a freshman this year! Pray for me!
