Lyon student wins third place in regional Japanese speech contest

Joshua Jackson, a freshman at Lyon College, won third place in the college first year level at the South Central Japanese Speech Contest held Feb. 16 at the University of Mississippi. The speech contest is open to college- and graduate-level students in five states. Jackson competed against seven students from Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. His award winning speech in Japanese was titled "My Everyday." He received the $100 Shintech Louisiana LLC Award and a third-place certificate. Jackson, a graduate of Bryant High School, is currently completing his first year of Japanese at Lyon College.
