Roettgers visit alumni in California; SoCal Alumni Chapter formed
During a week long trip to California, the Roettgers visited with many alumni. The Southern California (SoCal) Alumni Chapter was formed! News from alums:
Christina Cody '06 is working in L.A. as a post-production sound mixer and enjoying every minute of it! She decided to relocate from the Berkshires in Massachusetts and is enjoying her new field. Nell Tebbetts '07 is a pre-production prop assistant, working on Bruce Willis' new movie, and has adapted nicely to the freeway traffic. Nell is hoping to acquire her SAG card in the not-too-distant future. Frances Titsworth '98 is spending her time on her new movie production and working full-time at a local college. She introduced all to her friend, Mark. Warren McCullough '01 is writing and plans to direct his movie in hometown Thayer, Missouri. In the meantime, he continues acting (you can see him in teeth whitener and Jaguar ads). Svjetlana (Ceca) Brckalo '05 is likewise loving the sun and fun of the greater L.A. area. Working at an area online college, she finds time to continue with volleyball and occasionally babysits. Ceca mentioned that babysitting rates in southern California do differ vastly from those in Batesville! Ron Hanks '98 manages the Southern California retail operations for Leonidas Chocolates and continues to act. The chocolates are delicious! Sajjan Rajbanshi '03 runs an herbal medicine store and is training for his fall bicycle race in Nepal. Dubbed the "Himalayan Hurricane," he's usually spotted in and around L.A. on his bike (when he's not surfing). Taylor Preiser '04 loves her job as a pharmaceutical representative and reports that her twin, Nicolette, is in nursing school in the Midwest. Erhan Ercan '00 introduced all to his wife, Pinar. They drove up from San Diego to Long Beach for dinner. Erhan is the director of product marketing for Ostendo Technologies and met up with his partner, Carolyn Holloway's brother-in-law, at the senior party at Bradley Manor! Dr. Michael Arshagouni joined the SoCal chapter in Long Beach and is the choir director/professor at a college in Pasadena.
President and Ms. Roettger joined Lyon friends Robert (Bob) and Mary Baker at the Getty Museum in Santa Monica for lunch. Mary is looking forward to returning to Batesville for her 5oth Batesville High School reunion and Bob is a professor of Microbiology at USC. Frances '56 and Cal Stevens hosted the Roettgers for breakfast in San Jose. Cal has retired from San Jose State as a geology professor (though he still goes to the office frequently), while Mary stays involved with the San Jose community. Lavon Griffin '39 has moved from her previous residence in Vajello (east of Oakland) to her new, spacious apartment in Vacaville. Lavon loves her new place not only for the spaciousness, but for the convenience of walking to Wal-Mart and other shops for her groceries, etc.
