Board commends departing trustees

The Lyon College Board of Trustees approved citations Friday acknowledging the service of members who are leaving the board as their terms expire in June. Above, longtime trustee Larry Derby receives the traditional gift of a chair bearing the Lyon seal. Below, Adam Long '06, the first Young Alumni Trustee, is presented a chair in appreciation for his two years of service on the board. A citation was also approved for Michael Brown '08, the student representative to the board in his role as president of the Student Government Association. Katee Castleman of Batesville, who was recently elected SGA president for 2008-09, will succeed Brown on the board. Daniel Haney '08 of Arkadelphia was elected the new Young Alumni Trustee by the student body recently and will succeed Long in that position. David Jones '99 of Indianapolis, Ind., was recently elected an Alumni Trustee from out of state and will join the board in July. Vicky Crittenden '78, whose term as the out-of-state Alumni Trustee will expire in June, was elected to the board as a Synod Trustee. Don Bedell was also elected a Synod Trustee. Bedell is a businessman from Sikeston, Mo., who also has business interests in the Batesville area. Re-elected Synod Trustees were Bill Bristow '72 of Jonesboro, P.K. Holmes III of Fort Smith, and Stephen Williams '82 of Little Rock.
