Lyon Music Department to host 'Gala Student Recital' and 'Beatlemania!' Students from the Lyon College Music Department will soon take the stage for a pair of performances of music ranging from opera to classic rock and roll. The first event will be the “Gala Student Recital” on Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 in Brown Chapel. The program will feature three organists, Anelisa Woods, Nathan Reinhardt, and Nate Pyle, and one flutist, Holly Geis, as well as pianist Robert Hemfelt who’ll be playing his own compositions. Also featured at the Gala will be four singers – Katie Wheeler, Sydney Brown, Corey Emerson, and T. J. Guajardo – doing a set of songs from “Phantom of the Opera.” The second event is “Beatlemania!,” on Saturday, Nov. 17, also at 7:30 in Brown Chapel. That show will feature will local “The Fab Roar,” consisting of Corey Emerson, Lyon staffer Tommy Tucker, Seth Flood, Robert Hemfelt and others, as well as various solo acts. “Beatlemania!” is a project that originated as part of Dr. Russell Stinson’s class on the music of the Beatles. Admission is free to both events. For more information on the shows, contact Dr. Stinson, Lyon’s Josephine E. Brown Professor of Music, at (870) 698-4261. |
