Lyon College offers many unique opportunities to Art
students: Art Majors in upper-level studios have
personal studio space with twenty-four hour access.
Students use personal studio space to work in
conventional ways, and to explore the possibilities of
installation. Students are exposed to the art world
first-hand in the Contemporary Art course. The course
culminates in a trip to New York City, where students
visit museums, galleries, and artist’s studios. Lyon
College’s Nichols Travel Program offers courses that
provide students with the opportunity to travel
internationally.

Lyon College offers personal attention and guidance,
and our Art Department reflects this with small class
sizes, and ample opportunities to work one-on-one with
professors. Faculty expect Art students to work hard and
be productive, so we provide a supportive environment
and focus attention on the goals of each student as an
individual. Our faculty members hold the terminal degree
in studio art, and are active artists themselves,
participating in shows across the country. The Art
Faculty offer students the expertise of successful
professionals in a constantly changing field, as well as
the knowledge of skilled studio artists. Lyon’s Art
Faculty is committed to working with each student on an
individual basis to best serve each student’s artistic
and professional goals.

Our graduates have been accepted at several university
graduate programs: Cornell University, University of
Florida, Maryland Institute College of Art, University
of Kansas, Pratt Institute, Montclair State University,
Louisiana State University. Many of our graduates are
teaching art in various public school systems, and
working in several art-related fields.
