"I looked at other state colleges, and the biggest difference I found was that at Lyon I could work in different types of medium every semester. The schools that I was comparing to only offered degrees in specific areas which I felt was very limiting. The instructors in the Art Department are enthusiastic about fostering creativity as well as firmly grasping technique along with understanding the conceptual aspects for the work you are creating. I always dreaded art history until I had Professor Lejeune's art history classes. She brings a refreshing energy to the classroom and engages students in considering why art was made and how much it has impacted our lives. Professor Bork is always excited to hear ideas and encourages us to explore technique.

The Art Department at Lyon is an ideal place to grow, learn, and streamline the conceptual and technical aspects of a career in the visual arts. It has given me the foundation to pursue not only my career as an artist but my life as an artist."
