Gehm, Dr. Barry

Dr. Barry Gehm joined the Lyon College faculty in 2003. He studies how environmental, and particularly dietary, chemicals interact with estrogen receptor, the protein within cells that mediates the effects of estrogens. In the classroom, Dr. Gehm routinely teaches Chemistry in Context (CHM 100), General Chemistry I (CHM 110), Biochemistry (BIO/CHM 365) and Advanced Biochemistry (BIO/CHM 425). Dr. Gehm advises first-year students as well as biochemistry majors. He also serves as co-advisor to the Wesley Fellowship/Lyon Habitat for Humanity, and edits the newsletter for Habitat for Humanity of Independence County.
