Lyon College seeks to attract and retain talented and motivated students who can contribute to and
benefit from a Lyon education.
To this end, the College awards a range of scholarships intended to recognize and encourage
excellence in academic performance, the fine arts, and athletics. Ordinarily students may accept
only one scholarship from Lyon. All scholarships require that recipients maintain a specified level
of academic performance; most require that students live on campus.
Standards for Maintaining Aid Eligibility
Students who receive financial aid from any federal,
state, or institutional source must adhere to specified
minimum standards of academic
performance to encourage the completion of their degree
requirements in a timely manner.

Academic Merit Awards Lyon
offers various merit-based academic awards ranging from the total cost of
tuition, fees, room and board to just a portion of these cost. These
scholarships are renewable based on academic performance at Lyon.
Prospective students should submit applications for admission no later than
January 15.
The Application Process
To apply for an academic merit award, prospective students should complete an application for
admission and submit all appropriate application materials (i.e., essay, ACT/SAT score, fee,
recommendations). The admission application serves as an application for most academic merit awards.
As part of the application process, students who are interested in these awards are strongly
encouraged to schedule an official visit to campus through the Office of Admission. Students who
complete their application for admission prior to January 15 will receive priority in the awarding
of academic merit awards. Candidates should follow up with the Office of Admission to ensure that
application materials are complete.
In reviewing applications for academic merit awards, the College will also consider community
service, leadership experiences, and extracurricular activities as demonstrated in a candidate's
application, essay, letters of recommendation and nomination, and on-campus interviews. Scholarships
are renewable annually provided students maintain an appropriate level of academic performance.
Fine Arts Scholarships
For applicants who demonstrate outstanding ability in art, music,
Scottish
Heritage, or theatre, we offer this scholarship, which may be used to supplement a Trustees', President's, Dean's, or Transfer Scholarship.
Candidates for Fine Arts scholarships will be asked to schedule a campus
audition or portfolio review.
Athletic Scholarships
Lyon is an NAIA Division I school and competes in the TranSouth Conference. A limited number of
athletic scholarships are available for student-athletes who are members of Lyon's intercollegiate
athletic teams. Student-athletes
will retain an athletic scholarship by complying with NAIA Division I eligibility requirements,
appropriate College regulations, and scholarship maintenance requirements. Applicants who receive a
Trustees', President's, or Dean's scholarship may also be eligible for athletic
scholarships which are awarded by the Office of
Enrollment Services in consultation with the Athletic Department.
Other Financial Aid All prospective students are encouraged to complete and file the
Free Application for Federal
Student Aid (FAFSA) and submit it to the Federal processor after January 1st of their final year of high school. Students who complete and file
this form will be considered for federal and state need-based financial aid
