1. Application for Admission and Application Fee of $50.00.

2. 250-300 word essay – topics are listed in the
online application or in the paper application.
3. Official transcripts from all secondary and post-secondary institutions. Students who have
attended secondary school outside the United States may be required to submit a certified evaluation
in English, of their transcripts from World Education Services, Inc.
4. Official SAT I, ACT or if appropriate TOEFL scores. Applicants who take the TOEFL must
achieve a minimum score of 550 (paper) or 213 (computer). Lyon’s institutional code is 0112; its SAT
code is 6009.
5. An applicant must demonstrate that s/he has the financial resources to cover costs for an
academic year before final admission is granted. Here is an example of documents required: Original,
unaltered, bank certificates, official award letters; and/or letters from guarantors accompanied
by the guarantor’s financial ability to sponsor the student (e.g. bank certificates). These bank
documents must be translated into United States currency, and they must reflect an average balance
of three to four months. Please list any restrictions regarding the transfer of funds to the United
States and please document that those restrictions will not interfere with your funding at Lyon
College. A student preparing for initial entry to the U.S. will want to obtain two sets of their
original documents – one to submit to the school and one to show to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate
official and again to the INS inspector at the student’s port of entry.
6. Transfer students please print out the
SEVIS
FORM I-20 Transfer to Lyon College, fill it out, and mail it to the
address at the top of the form.
7. Effective September 1, 2004, all F-1 visa status students that have been issued an I-20 must
pay a $100.00 fee for the administration of SEVIS. Form I-901 and the $100.00 fee must be completed
and paid before a visa is issued. For detailed instructions on how to complete Form I-901 and how to
pay your fee please go to www.fmjfee.com.
